In a game forum I was reading dealing with the PS3, I was seeing a little “discussion”(We all know what “Discussions” turn into in the gaming world) about using your PS3 as a your main Blu-Ray player. A lot of people said they do, why there was some that says that it brings “Wear-and-tear” to your system(As in, you’ll get YLOD or the infamous Red Rings of Death to your console quicker). These people insist that you can now buy a blu-ray player for a lot cheaper now and use that instead of your PS3.
Now, the whole bringing wear and tear excuse has no valid point. If you keep your console clean, then you don’t have to worry. And in most cases, YLOD and RRoD has the most oddly timings that you may or may not know what really cause that to happen
But, getting to the point, I have always use my console as a main movie player. I had the PS2 since launch and nothing bad has happen to it (Excluding the DRE part. But, it usually fix itself up by itself or something). But, with my 360, I had to replace it twice. That’s because I got that dreaded RRoD. Till this day, I don’t know what caused it. Now, I’m taking an EXTREMELY better care to it now for whatever reason, and it hasn’t happened yet *Knocks on wood*.
I’ve, so far, only watch three Blu-Ray movies on my PS3. And to tell you the truth, I’m not going to buy a blu-ray player when I have a very capable console to play it on. Why should you? If you have a XBox, you personally don’t need a DvD player(Currently, I’m watching the LOST complete series on it). Both of my consoles is in good use to play movies. It’s like a “All-in-One” type of software; and I LOVE IT! So my hats off to Microsoft and Sony for putting this extra software into there consoles.
You see what I have to say, now I want to hear what your input is. Do you use your console as your main movie player?
