There’s a group of people who’s not talk about on a regular basis, and that’s the programmers. They are the one’s who spend COUNTLESS hours of programming and reprogramming but they rarely, if not at all, get that much of credit. It’s usually the graphics department who receives the most credit.
I can tell you from experience that programming is not a easy occupation to get into. There’s tons of math involved, and sheets load of codes to write. Although, I know very little about programming I know so much to know that it takes dedication from anyone. I dabbled into programming and I like the nature of it. I’m hoping to be skilled in Level Designing. Programming just was not my thing, but I do a little beginner’s stuff from time to time(or whenever I have the spark to do it).
I do appreciate their work. EVERY GAME that I’ve completed I make sure to watch the ending credits. A game is full of WORK HORSES that I don’t think people fully comprehend the behind the scenes of a game. People are always complaining about how short a campaign is but don’t realize how long the creation part is. Game don’t intentionally be bad. Everybody have different philosophy of how long/short a game should be….
I’m afraid i went a little off the point, but you get my drift? Maybe it’s because I thrive to be in the game industry that I want everybody to be praised (that maybe because I’m a good person idk). The countless of “Crunch” time the programmers, and everyone, goes through is tremendous. They work together to make a “Masterpiece”, if you will, of a game to make everyone of us happy. Now, sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don’t, the main reason why games are bad is because of the planning more so then the programming. So hate the plan not the programmers lol
What’s your opinion about programmers? Do you think they are partly to blame for bad games then the planning of it?
