Yep, that’s right, this subject. The new generation of gaming has brought us a lot. The new staples of things, is achievement points/trophies. You get these by achieving a milestone in a video game. It could be beating a level, or learning a new technique. It’s a nice little feature. But, it’s something that has spiral to something more then just “Feature”.
Just like with any good feature, there is a crowd who has to make it bigger then it is. Let’s get something straight. I’m not trying to rain on any of y’all parade. That’s not me. All of this is just opinions. When I play games, I think the achievement points/trophies are a cool thing. But, I only go for the basic stuff. I don’t play the game to just for the points. That turns the game in a chore. It’s suppose to be fun. If I so happen to get it, then so be it. This is tomato/tomata to the gaming world. I don’t even think anything about it…Until the world do.
It seems the majority people only play a game for the points. I have my ways in what believing what’s fun to do, and you have yours. As expected, it doesn’t stop to just “play for points”. It goes beyond that. Like bragging on the message boards about it. Even then, that doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is when people start diminishing others because of there points.
Is it that much of a necessity that you have to put down others based on there points? It’s just means that you spend more time on a game. That, or you have more games then the other person does. This whole points thing has gotten out of hand. Spend time arguing to the developer about the glitches in the game. Don’t argue over points. What? Can I put that on my resume? Will bosses hire/fire me by my achievement/trophies?
I don’t play games for points. The last time I remembered looking at a list of achievements was when I was playing Gears of War 1. That’s a LOOOONNNNNNGGGGG time ago. I glanced through GTA IV achievement points, but never really cared to do it. Heck, I didn’t care for it BEFORE getting GTA IV(lol). I just want to go back to the old days. When people played games for fun, and NOT just for the points. Points do not lengthen a game. Why would I want to play a terrible game just for the points? Get real NOOBS!
This is a open letter. Please don’t turn video games into a chore.
