Ever remember those old Pokemon games on the Gameboys? Specifically, Red/Blue/Yellow. I did. I remember playing Pokemon Red for hours on end. Collecting all those different type of Pokemon. I also remembered the anger when I found out that someone erased the file! Argh!!!! I didn’t even bother to redo the game. The last game I played was Silver. Never really had a interest in Pokemon after that…Until now.
Recently, I received Nintendo 3DS XL and I got Pokemon X for it. I was surprised. It brought the same joy I had when I played the original games. Well, I wanted to give my first impression of the game. I have only reached the fourth badge(Yeah, I know, maybe further than usual)so far.
This is the first in the series that’s 3D. My first reaction is “Wow”, it looks pretty cool! I have heard many complaints about it. I will give GameFreak a little pass on this. Why? It’s their first game in the series that is 3D. Of course there will be a big jump for them. There will be some bump in the road with this game. One thing I have problem with, is the camera. The way it turns, is a little annoying. But it’s not a deal breaker for me
I’m not that deep into the game, but the story isn’t mind blowing. Just like every other Pokemon game. But, that’s not the point. The adventure, and becoming the Pokemon master is the reason to play the game. This time, you get to travel with your friends. There will be points where they travel with you or help you out in battle. Other than that, there’s not a major story. Once I finish, I see if it has changed.
The gameplay is the same as the original. It’s a turn base system. You click on a attack button and it will deal whatever damage/defense that is required to do. Nothing has change in that retrospect. Hey, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it right? I’m happy with that, not much more to learn since my absence. There’s new mini-games to make your own Pokemon good. A lot of people say that this is the easiest Pokemon game. I don’t remember that much of my play-through of Red, but I do remember having to grind all of my Pokemon. This time, you don’t have to do that. Before the first gym, you get a EXP Share to share with ALL of your Pokemon. So, blazing through the game isn’t that difficult.
I didn’t want to give a full review, because I’m not that far into it. But, from what I’ve played, it’s a excellent game. I’m enjoying it so much. If you have not purchase the game, then you should go out and purchase it now!
