You know what bugs me(no pun intended) is these dumb bugs that is found in video games. With so many people that review the game before it hits the shelves, I’m shocked on how a bug infested game gets past the cutting room floor. This blog will not point out every bug in a game. I just want to give a short blog on how I feel about some bugs.
The game that brought me to write this post was Battlefield 4. I don’t get mad about bugs, just aggravated. But with this game, there was a bug that made me want to rip my hair off(Mind you, I don’t have that much hair on my head). I got pretty far into the campaign. So, I decided to quit, and go into multiplayer mode. I did this on two occasions. After the second time of playing mp mode, I turned off the system(After quitting the game). Later on in the day, I turned the game back on so I can play the campaign. I notice that it ask me for the screen resolution. I thought that was weird, but didn’t think too much into it. So, I went into the campaign and notice they ask me the difficulty. Apparently, the game erased my save!
So, as any gamer would do in my situation, I PANIC! Okay, I wasn’t that emotional. I just went onto message boards to find answers. And from what I gathered, if you played multiplayer you have a high chance of your campaign wiped off. That annoyed me. I mean, I really hope I wasn’t that close to the end, but it is still troubling. Didn’t they check this out before releasing this to the public?
You know, I think the main problem is we having the Over the Air updates. Developers, sometimes, half make their games, and lean on the updates. And there’s times when OTA’S don’t even workout!
I can understand the minor bugs. But major bugs that can disrupt the game(like deleting the campaign) is something that should not be ignored. Sometimes I think it’s because games are being rushed out the door. But then no, if you know when it’s going to be released they should have work out the minor kinks in the game.
I never notice as a kid the bugs and problems in games that I see now. There can be many factors to that. I was young and I did not know what to look out for; The other factor, is that when I was young they didn’t have OTA updates like they have now. That last factor is how I feel. When a game is done, there’s no “correcting” a mistake that you didn’t see in the game. There was also no rumor about “locked content” that will be release with a DLC. Yes, we had expansion packs, but it actually expanded the game. Now a days, some developers hold stuff from the main game and put it in the DLC. And you can see that in some of these games.
I did not want to prolong this blog more then what I want to. I just had a bad problem with Battlefield 4 that made me want to rant! Do any of you have a rant about buggy games you want to discuss? Leave a comment.
